Arizona Call for Entries: Get Out the Vote 2008

AIGA invites designers from across the United States to create nonpartisan posters and YouTube submissions that inspire the American public to participate in the electoral process and vote for a presidential candidate in the 2008 general election. If you are an AIGA member, you can contribute your own designs to the online gallery.

The 2008 poster campaign builds on the efforts made in 2004, when participants created more than 50,000 AIGA posters that were displayed in public places in communities across the nation and made available as online PDFs for anyone to download, print and post independently.

On a local level, we are asking Arizona designers to encourage participation in the democratic process by designing posters and motion graphics and making them available for others to use. The posters and videos will be on display at an AIGA mixer planned for September.

1. Review and Research
AIGA members: Find instructions and guidelines for submitting a poster or YouTube video here.

Non-members: Your poster must be 11x17 inches. Your video or motion graphics piece must be 640 x 480 resolution; final file no larger than 30 MB, maximum three minutes in length. 

2. Design
The purpose of this campaign is to encourage voter turnout. There is no single message, although the intent is a call to action, motivating people to register and cast their vote. The visuals and the text of the message must be nonpartisan—AIGA is supporting the basic democratic premise of citizen participation, not a partisan position on candidates or issues.

3. Submit
AIGA members: Submit your entry online for inclusion in the national gallery, and to us at aigaarizona@gmail.com for inclusion on the AIGA Arizona web site. For files above 5MB, please email us for FTP instructions.

Non-members: Submission to the national gallery is open to AIGA members only, but we are accepting submissions in Arizona for inclusion on our web site, where others can download and print your posters or view your video. Files may be emailed to aigaarizona@gmail.com for inclusion on the AIGA Arizona web site. For files above 5MB, please email us for FTP instructions.

4. View Your Design
Posters and videos designed by AIGA members will be available in the online gallery and on YouTube three to seven days after submission. Items designed by both members and non-members will be available on arizona.aiga.org within a few days of submission.

Also, attend the AIGA Arizona mixer planned for September to view the work by your fellow Arizonans!
